Safety advice to prevent accidents between pedestrians and heavy vehicles on construction sites!

Blind spots of heavy vehicles

Blind spots are a great danger for pedestrians and other road users, because these areas of the road are outside the driver's field of vision. On construction site, the optimal conditions are not always met.

This is why it is always good to remember the safety tips to prevent accidents between pedestrians and heavy vehicles on construction sites!

Here are some tips to better take blind spots into account and avoid accidents

DO YOU DRIVE A HEAVY VEHICLE?

Anticipation and verification

When driving, be aware of people walking near your vehicle, especially at urban intersections.

• Monitor and anticipate the movements of people.

• Don't assume that your maneuvers are predictable.

• Make sure your mirrors are in good condition, clear, and properly adjusted.

• Keep your headlights on at all times (to see and be visible).

• Use turn signals at intersections to signal your intentions.

• Be careful when making a right turn at an intersection and your vehicle must encroach into the adjacent lane or the shoulder to make the turn.

ARE YOU NEAR A HEAVY VEHICLE?

Make sure you are seen: a rule that can save your life

When driving near a heavy vehicle, always make eye contact with the driver. Otherwise, assume he hasn't seen you.

• Avoid being in the blind spots of a heavy vehicle.

• Make sure its driver has seen you before crossing in front of it. If in doubt, let it go.

• Pay attention to vehicle turn signals at intersections.

• Be visible (light-colored clothing, reflective strips, etc.).

• Remember that the driver will not hear you if you try to signal your presence.

OKO Long Life - Long lasting corrosion protection on all rims

OKO Life Long tire and rims life extender

Designed for Mining and Construction vehicles where rims corrode and tires are worn out in months

Not a sealant!

Life Long is a free-flowing liquid formulated in a whole new way, incorporating cutting-edge technology. The nanotechnology lays down a thin layer, cleaning and protecting steel or alloy rims. UV component brightly shows up bead/o-ring/rim leaks and tire slits, in the workshop for rapid action

Liquid prevents air loss, cools and conditions the rubber:

On average, achieving 30% longer tire life

OKO LifeLong is a major step forward in heavy-duty wheel and tyre protection. It does more for both than any previous generation of product.

The weak points of similar products often include the lack of protection for static rims from the moisture-heavy air inside the tyre; the inability to protect alloys; either no anti-freeze to cool the tires or harmful types of product being used; no clear indication of leaks; and the depletion of product that can lead to instructions to top up by 20% after a time..

Life Long overcomes all of those issues and is the natural choice for operators. It will not clog valves or TPMS, and it is biodegradable. The carboxylate technology of the liquid even succeeds in cleaning away pre-existing rust so rims can look better after use than before! Nitrogen fill can be used after fitting Life Long, but actually why would you bother with the extra expense when this product generates such a massive improvement in tire life?

OKO Life Long is primarily designed for use off the highway, and only in tubeless tires. It can also be used on road for heavy trucks and service vehicles, having observed OKO’s recommended dosage quantities.

Forklifts are the root of many accidents and even deaths.

Forklifts are powerful material handling machines that are used in many different work areas. They are the root of many accidents and even deaths. The load, the mast, and the structure of the forklift are many of the visual obstacles to the driver. This reduced visibility disables the detection of pedestrians and is difficult to prevent dangerous situations and diminishes the chances of emergency braking.

Limit areas of restricted vision

To prevent collisions, a pedestrian detection is necessary. Many types of cameras are recommended in this situation. Simple cameras, radars, ultrasounds or morphological recognition etc.

Attention, these security systems are tools to assist the vigilance of the driver. The simple fact of installing a system would not eliminate all accidents but would certainly help to diminish some of them. Whatever position we are whether a driver or pedestrian being vigilant is important.

Five criteria to consider when choosing an on-board scale

Today, quarries and sand pits are more competitive than ever.

Your ability to load more precisely and more efficiently than a competitor can make the difference between being a producer of materials and being the best producer of materials.

The key to success is having the right tools!

This is why on-board scales have become a necessity for small and large quarries. Today's scales are reliable, economical, and as easy to use as smartphones. Once implemented, they quickly help quarries minimize errors, optimize payloads and reduce cycle times. And just as important, they allow operators to stay focused on what they do best: moving materials.

However, the market is full of choices and opinions that can make investing in on-board scales confusing. We have therefore compiled a list of the five most important things to consider when looking for an on-board scale for your operations:

Five criteria to consider when choosing an on-board scale

Accuracy

An on-board scale must deliver an accuracy of approximately one percent or better. Although it sounds small, a margin of error greater than 1% can easily cost thousands of dollars a day for a busy quarry. Your scale must also guarantee precise performance regardless of common variables such as temperature changes throughout the day, site slope, operator technique or operator experience.

Extended functionalities

Beyond the optimization of the payload, a good on-board scale will also include functionalities capable of increasing efficiency in other areas. Good examples include the ability to totalize a machine's payload for a full day or more, automatically calculate bucket payload without operator intervention, and easily adjust the last bucket to a specific target payload (Target weight).

Data management

Data is the new added value - it has proven itself, is simple and useful in many different situations. And the better your data, the easier it will be to keep your machines and operations running smoothly and efficiently. On-board loader scales - such as the Pfreundt series WK60 & WK60 SWT scales - have the advantage of being connectable to an web portal. This means that you will be able to track payload data remotely from your laptop or cell phone. The WK60 series also include easy reporting functions and options to add and / or customize data capture fields. You can also consider adding an on-board thermal or impact printer (coupon) to make truck and individual load information immediately available to drivers, customers, or any other staff who need it.

Connectivity

Reliable Wi-Fi and / or cellular connectivity between the office, equipment and scale is essential to eliminate downtime and improve processes and customer service. A scale that lets you connect from the desktop in real time will help you quickly identify underproduction, understand why it is happening, and do what is necessary to get back on track. In addition to these capabilities, the most modern scales - such as the Pfreundt WK60 - further extend this connectivity in real time, allowing operators to receive orders from customers in the cabin immediately after their request from the Pfreundt web portal.

Support

Any scale you purchase must include a good warranty, installation by a qualified technician, and responsive technical support after installation. As mentioned above, The Alltech Group now offers Pfreundt brand on-board scales, a German brand that only manufactures systems with an accuracy of +/- 1% and that can be certified legal for trade in countries that accept this option.

PFREUNDT On-board scales:

On-board scales offer to quarries new levels of precision, efficiency and productivity that were not possible until recently. And whether you are on the market for the purchase of an on-board scale for a new wheel loader, or want to equip older machines, the Pfreundt WK60 scales will provide the performance you need to optimize loads useful, accelerate cycle times and truck rotation, manage and analyze data, and improve workflow.
